Reverse osmosis for sea water desalination in desalination

Reliable process control

Reverse osmosis is a water purification technology that uses semipermeable membranes which cannot be penetrated by larger molecules. Sea water reverse osmosis works at pressures of up to 70 to 80 bar and is one of the main technologies used for sea water desalination. Flows, pressures and analytical values need to be measured in order to monitor and control the operation of the membrane modules within their design limits - this is essential for a long service life.

KROHNE supplies a full range of OPTIFLUX electromagnetic flowmeters for high pressures, OPTISONIC UFM ultrasonic flowmeters for low conductivity permeate flows and the other instruments required for control of the entire process.
