Cooling water treatment in biomass power plants

Monitoring of the cooling water

Large amounts of cooling water are required throughout the plant - mainly for evaporative cooling systems. The raw water is typically taken from open sources, such as rivers. Filtration removes mechanical impurities and solid matter. Particularly important is the conditioning of the cooling tower make-up water, in order to avoid fouling, corrosion and the formation of bacteria.

Flows in large diameter pipes can economically be measured using the OPTISONIC 3400 or OPTISONIC 6300 ultrasonic flowmeters. The OPTISYS CL is a sophisticated instrument system that can measure the biocide concentration, corrected for any pH variation.
